The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) declared the final result of the Civil Services Examination, 2022 today. Ishita Kishore secured the first rank, followed by Garima Lohia and Uma Harathi coming in second and third respectively.
The UPSC Civil Services Exam is one of the most competitive and difficult in the world. It is conducted every year by UPSC to select candidates for various services such as the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and other Group A and Group B services.
A total of 933 candidates have been recommended for appointment, out of which 345 candidates are from the General category, 99 from the EWS category, 263 from the OBC category, 154 from the SC category and 72 from the ST category.
There is also a Reserve List of candidates included compromising of 178 candidates out of which, 89 are from the General category, 28 from the EWS category, 52 from the OBC category, 5 from the SC category and 4 from the ST category.
The exam is divided into 3 stages namely, the Preliminary Examination, a 2 part written examination which is a test for qualification, the Main Examination which is a 9 part written examination and the Personality Test which is an interview and acts as the deciding factors for selection of candidates along with the Main Examination.
The final result reveals that a total of 1022 vacancies in various services such as I.A.S., I.F.S., I.P.S., Central Services Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ services have to be filled out.
