Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will cohost a reception with other billionaire Republican donors hours before US President elect-Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony, reported Associated Press, citing sources.
The reception will be held on Monday evening. It will include other hosts like Miriam Adelson, the Dallas Mavericks owner and widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson; Tilman Fertitta, casino magnate, Houston Rockets owner, etc.
Mark Zuckerberg will also reportedly attend Trump's inauguration ceremony. This is in complete contrast to their relationship a year ago. In his book Save America, Donald Trump warned Meta Chief that he would “spend the rest of his life in prison” if he attempted to plot against Trump during the 2024 elections.
Once seemed a foe of the former president, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is trying to mend his relation with Donald Trump after he registered landslide victory in US Presidential Elections in November last year, reported AP.
In his book released in 2024, Trump accused Mark Zuckerberg of plotting against him during the 2020 election. He also warned that repeating the same action may have consequences like “spending life in prison”, reported news website Politico.
It represents Trump’s most recent attack on Zuckerberg, who he has repeatedly accused of intervening in the last presidential election. And it comes as Meta has taken steps to assure conservatives it will not influence this year’s campaign.
In another sign of Zuckerberg's shift in stance on Donald Trump, the tech billionaire will reportedly attend Donald Trump's inauguration ceremony on January 20.
According to NBC news, billionaires Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg will reportedly attend the Republican leader's inauguration ceremony. The three will be seated next to each other on the platform with important guests, including Trump cabinet nominees, added the report, citing a source.
Prior to the elections in 2024, Mark Zuckerberg seemed a foe to the former president who even banned him from Facebook and Instagram after a mob of Trump's supporters attacked the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
However, the dynamics between the two changed as Meta CEO has been endearing himself to Trump as one of a number of tech executives who have been seeking to improve their relationships with the new president.
In November 2024, Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris by a massive margin, clearing the critical threshold of 270 electoral college votes. He also registered a remarkable victory in swing states including Arizona.
