First Lady of the US, Melania Trump's wedding gown is reportedly being auctioned for less than half its original cost.
Melania wore a custom-made Christian Dior gown in 2005 to marry US President Donald Trump in Palm Beach, Florida. The gown weighed 60 pounds and cost $100,000, according to Page Six.
However, the gown has been currently listed on eBay to be auctioned for a fraction of the cost, according to a report by The Independent. eBay seller Svjabc1 has listed the dress for auction starting at $45,000. The seller claimed to have bought the dress for $70,000 to wear for her own wedding in 2010.
“Christian Dior wedding dress specifically designed by John Galliano for Melania Trump’s wedding to Donald Trump. United States PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP,” the report quoted the item description. Additionally, the seller also shared images of Melania Trump walking down the aisle with Donald Trump wearing the ivory strapless gown.
“This dress had more than 500 hours worth of hand-sewn crystal beading Swarovski crystals were used with a 13-foot train,” the description further read.
In the images of the gown shared by the seller, which is now up for sale, show minute foliage-inspired beading leading up to the previously plain bodice with two shoulder straps and a satin waist sash.
“Because Melania Trump was a size 0-2, I had to have this dress made a little bigger, as I was a size 4-6. I added a new layer of satin to the bottom of the dress and a few more embroidery pieces on the top. Plus, a new layer of fabric was added to the back of the dress and straps as my chest is much bigger than Melania's," the seller said.
The seller claimed, the dress size can be altered again to fit anyone sizes 0 to 2 after removing the back layer. She further said that the gown had been worn twice, one by the First Lady herself and the seller. However, there is no certificate of authenticity in the listing.
