Iran war news LIVE updates: The Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until seven Iranian conditions set out in a June interim agreement with the US are met, Nournews reported, citing Iran's parliament speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, on Sunday, a few days after Tehran received Washington's reply to its diplomatic proposal.

Trump says Washington to decide Iran war's outcome

US President Donald Trump on Saturday (local time) said that Washington will decide on Iran, stating that the outcome would come either the "easy way or the hard way", while asserting that Iran has been "decimated".

"We have a decision that I'll make about Iran. Iran's been decimated. So the only question is, it'll either be the easy way or the hard way. We'll have it the easy way or the hard way," Trump said to reporters outside the White House.

Houthis attack Saudi oil facility

Iran-backed Yemen's Houthis claimed responsibility for an attack on an oil facility near the Saudi capital on Saturday and accused the Kingdom of striking the Yemeni capital several times. The two sides have traded strikes since the Houthis seized Yemen's Red Sea coast and took control of the Bab al-Mandab Strait in a lightning offensive last month. Houthi-affiliated channel Al-Masirah TV reported that "Saudi enemy aircraft" hit Sanaa with 26 strikes, after earlier reporting "Saudi aggression" against the Yemeni capital, without providing details on the targets or casualties. While Saudi authorities are yet to comment, late on Saturday, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had targeted an oil facility in Riyadh with ballistic missiles and drones, adding that they had sparked fires at the targeted sites.

Pezeshkian says Iran has adopted a new approach to counter US sanctions

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Saturday (local time) said that Tehran has adopted a 'new arrangement' to tackle what he described as special conditions, as the US intensifies its economic pressure and sanctions targeting the country's financial and commercial networks. In a post on X, Pezeshkian accused its adversaries, particularly the US, of trying to cut off the Islamic Republic's crucial economic lifelines to pressure its people. He further noted that despite the mounting pressure, public support and government measures had prevented those objectives from being achieved.

As Trump boosts military presence, pressure builds on Iran

Iran has started to feel the pressure of the US war as US President Donald Trump boosts the US military presence in the region. According to a Bloomberg report, inflation in Tehran is around 90 per cent, with oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz recovering despite continued Iranian attacks. Additionally, Trump is sending another aircraft carrier with 10,000 sailors and Marines to the region. Iran’s economic situation is extremely painful, but the country is adapting, according to one Tehran official, who asked not to be identified so they could speak candidly. The Islamic Republic is preparing for a fresh US bombing campaign, potentially greater than before, but can respond.

Iran war news LIVE: Iran reviewing US response to diplomatic proposal presented at UN, says Gharibabadi

Iran is currently assessing a response from the United States regarding a diplomatic proposal put forward during United Nations meetings in New York City.

Confirming the latest development, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that Tehran is evaluating the terms delivered by the third-party channels, Al Jazeera reported.

Iran war news LIVE: Yemen leader announces major military operations against Iran-backed Houthis

The leader of Yemen's Saudi-backed government announced the beginning of a major military operation against the Iran-backed Houthis on Sunday, aimed at seizing the territory under their control.

Regional and western officials had previously told Reuters that Saudi Arabia and its Yemeni allies were planning to launch an assault on the Houthis, with the Saudis leading aerial combat and Yemeni forces fighting on the ground.

"Today, I announce the start of military operations to retake the remaining territory of the republic and extend the authority of the state and its institutions across the entire national territory," Yemeni President Rashad al-Alimi said in a televised address.

Saudi Arabia entered neighbouring Yemen's civil war in 2015 at the head of an Arab coalition in support of the internationally recognised government, which the Houthis had driven out of the capital Sanaa.

Iran war news LIVE: Iran says Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until conditions are met

The Strait of Hormuz will not reopen until seven Iranian conditions set out in a June interim agreement with the US are met, state media reported Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf as saying on Sunday.

Iran presented a proposal during the UN General Assembly under which the Strait of Hormuz waterway could be reopened and normal maritime passage restored within seven days if the conditions were met, with the US replying to this proposal last week via Qatari intermediaries.

"The position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is completely clear and firm, and the Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until our seven conditions, based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, are met," Qalibaf, who is Iran's top negotiator, was quoted as saying.

He said Washington “must understand that the period of dragging out the (diplomatic) process and dictating one-sided demands is over”.

Iran war news LIVE: Iran tells US there is no military solution to Middle East war

Iran's top diplomat insisted on Sunday that there would be no military solution to the United States' war against the Islamic republic, with talks on ending the conflict apparently at an impasse.

A campaign of heavy bombardment failed to bring a decisive close to the war launched by the US and Israel in late February, and Washington in recent weeks has dialled back military operations in favour of economic pressure.

The main point of contention remains Iran's attempt to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, a vital conduit for Gulf oil and gas where a UK maritime agency reported on Sunday another tanker struck by an unknown projectile.

"If our enemies again choose the path of military confrontation, our response will be stronger than before, and we will defend ourselves with even more force," Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said at a gathering of foreign ambassadors.

"There is no military solution, nor any solution based on new sanctions," he continued, adding "only negotiations based on justice and fairness" could end the conflict.

The two sides agreed a memorandum of understanding in June that spelled out a framework for a permanent resolution, but Iranian attacks on vessels in the Hormuz prompted a return to US military operations.
