Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are in a heated dispute over the rapper’s latest song, Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine, which allegedly features their 11-year-old daughter, North West. The track also includes Sean “Diddy” Combs, and its release has sparked a legal battle between the former couple.
Kardashian, 44, reportedly attempted to prevent North’s involvement by citing trademark rights over her daughter’s name. In text messages allegedly exchanged between the two, West accused Kardashian of interfering with his music.
“I’m never speaking to you again,” West, 47, texted Kardashian, according to TMZ.
Kardashian defended her decision, saying that she had legally secured the trademarks for all their children’s names to protect them.
“I asked you at the time if I can trademark her name. You said yes. When she’s 18, it goes to her. So stop,” Kardashian allegedly wrote. “I sent paperwork over so she wouldn’t be in the Diddy song to protect her.”
She further explained, “We agreed when they were born I would get all of our kids’ names and trademarks so no one else would take them.”
West did not take Kardashian’s move lightly, reportedly demanding that she amend the agreement.
“Amend it or I’m going to war,” he warned. “And neither of us will recover from the public fallout.”
In another text, he wrote, “You’re going to have to kill me.”
Sources told TMZ that Kardashian sent cease-and-desist letters demanding that West remove North’s voice from the track. An emergency mediation hearing was reportedly held with a judge, though West did not participate. However, he allegedly agreed not to release the song.
Kanye West has been making headlines for his controversial behavior, including advocating for Diddy’s release from prison. “FREE PUFF,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) last month.
Also, West recently faced backlash for selling swastika-themed T-shirts and making antisemitic remarks on social media. Meanwhile, his wife, Bianca Censori, 30, stirred controversy with a nude red carpet appearance at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
