US President Donald Trump on Wednesday lashed out at New York Times (NYT) reporter Katie Rogers over her deep dive into his health concerns, saying he has never worked so hard in his life. He reiterated that he has settled eight wars, and insisted the country's economy is thriving.
Fuming at Katie Rogers over the article titled Shorter Days, Signs of Fatigue: Trump Faces Realities of Aging in Office, Trump accused the NYT of publishing a hit piece suggesting he is perhaps losing his energy, despite what he claimed were facts that “show the exact opposite.”
Donald Trump alleged that Katie Rogers had been assigned to write only bad things about him and dismissed her as “a third rate reporter.”
The NYT article claimed that Trump remains almost omnipresent in American life, and according to the newspaper's analysis of his schedule, nearly a year into his second term, Americans see him less than they used to.
It further added that Trump has fewer public events on his schedule and is travelling domestically much less than he did by this point during his first year in office, in 2017, although he is taking more foreign trips.
Trump said, “They know this is wrong, as is almost everything that they write about me, including election results, ALL PURPOSELY NEGATIVE. This cheap “RAG” is truly an 'ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE'.”
He added, “I won the 2024 Presidential Election in a Landslide, winning all Seven Swing States, the Popular Vote, and the Electoral College by a lot. I one our Nation’s Districts by 2750 to 550, a complete wipeout.”
Trump claimed that he has the highest poll numbers ever, and that record-setting investments are being made in America.
However, Trump also made a typo in a lengthy post on Truth Social, saying he “one our Nation’s Districts by 2750 to 550.”
Stating that there will be a day when he runs low on energy, Trump added, "It happens to everyone, but with a perfect physical exam and a comprehensive cognitive test (that was aced) just recently taken, it certainly is not now.
The US President once again boasted that he has settled eight wars.
“Our Economy is Great, and our Country is RESPECTED AGAIN all over the World, respected like never before. The last Administration had the highest inflation in history — I have already brought that down to normal, and prices, including groceries, are coming down. To do this requires a lot of work and energy, and I have never worked so hard in my life,” added Trump.
Meanwhile, defending reporter Katie Rogers, the NYT said that what they reported is accurate and their journalist won't hesitate to cover the administration in the face of intimidation tactics.
"The Times's reporting is accurate and built on first hand reporting of the facts. Name-calling and personal insults don't change that, nor will our journalists hesitate to cover this administration in the face of intimidation tactics like this. Expert and thorough reporters like Katie Rogers exemplify how an independent and free press helps the American people better understand their government and its leaders," said Charlie Stadtlander, Executive Director, Media Relations & Communications, NYT, in a statement.
