United States President Donald Trump, speaking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Tuesday, September 23, complained about a broken escalator and teleprompter, which he has repeatedly targeted during both of his presidential terms, saying this is all he got from the United Nations.

“This is these are the two things I got from the United Nations, a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter,” he said, joking that the teleprompter operator was in “big trouble”.

“I can only say that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in big trouble,” he said, prompting laughter.

Speaking on the escalator that appeared to malfunction as he and First Lady Melania stepped on it, the US President said if the First Lady was not in great shape, “she would have fallen.”

“But she is in great shape,” he said.

He also blasted the United Nations in his speech at the UNGA, for allgedly “failing” to bring peace and claiming that the body encourages illegal migration. He also accused the UN of fostering an “assault” through migration on Western countries that he said were “going to hell.”

Trump said, “The UN is supposed to stop invasions, not create them, and not finance them. In the United States, we reject the idea that mass numbers of people from foreign lands can be permitted to travel halfway around the world, trample our borders, violate our sovereignty, cause unmitigated crime and deplete our social safety net.”

“We have reasserted that America belongs to the American people, and I encourage all countries to take their own stand in defense of their citizens as well,” Trump added.

"What is the purpose of the United Nations?" asked Trump.

“All they seem to do is write a really strongly worded letter,” Trump said. “It's empty words, and empty words don't solve war.”

‘Ended seven wars’: Trump

Apart from assailing the UN, Trump also reiterated that he ended seven wars in seven months of his Presidency.

“n seven months, I ended seven unendable wars. They said they were unendable, some were going for 31 years, one was 36 years. I ended 7 wars, and in all cases they were raging with countless thousands of people being killed. I ended seven wars, dealt with the leaders of each and every one of these countries, and never even received a phone call from the United Nations offering to help in finalizing the deal,” Trump said.
