US Election Results November 5, 2025: Two exit polls indicate that most voters disapprove of US President Donald Trump’s performance, but none are excited about voting for a Democratic nominee either, even though all four states have voted for a Democratic candidate in last year's presidential elections.

Early results from the NBC News Exit Poll show that voters in Virginia, New Jersey, California, and New York City expressed dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump.

According to CNN projections, Democrat Abigail Spanberger became the first woman Governor in Virginia. Democrat Mikie Sherrill's ratings were high in New Jersey; about three-quarters of California voters are saying they are not happy with the way things are going in the country.

The governor’s races in New Jersey and Virginia, along with New York City’s mayoral election and California’s redistricting ballot measure, mark the first major test for Republican President Donald Trump since taking office.

In the New York mayoral race, discussions about religion were important for some voters — particularly when it came to debates about the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.

New York City voters were divided over whether the candidates’ positions on Israel were an important factor in their vote. Overall, roughly 4 in- 0 said they were a major factor, 3 in 10 said they were a minor factor, and a nearly identical share said they were not a factor at all.
