US-Iran war news Highlights: US President Donald Trump said “Everything will work out just fine” when asked whether he could help facilitate crucial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

His comments came amid fresh concerns over Saudi Arabia following rapid advances by Houthi rebels in Yemen and strikes targeting a critical oil pipeline in the kingdom.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei launched a scathing attack on US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and accused the US government of attempting to justify “a reckless and unlawful war against Iran” by invoking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

In a post on X, he said, “The narrative advanced by the US Secretary of War on the anniversary of 9/11 is riddled with fundamental contradictions; you cannot wage aggression, carry out cowardly assassinations, and inflict civilian casualties while simultaneously claiming exclusive authority to define terrorism and determine whose violence is legitimate.”

Saudi Arabia shuts East-West pipeline after drones attack

As tensions in the Middle East soar, Saudi Arabia on Friday (local time) said drones from Iraq hit the East-West pipeline, leading to its closure. Riyadh has used this pipeline since the start of the war in the Middle East, which links Abqaiq, near the Gulf, to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea, to bypass Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Condemning the attack, the Saudi foreign ministry said, "the targeting of the East-West pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions by several drones coming from Iraq, which caused human injuries and damage".The ministry added, "At the request of the Iraqi prime minister... (Riyadh) has chosen not to respond at this stage and to support the efforts of the Iraqi government ... to prevent attacks launched from Iraq against the Kingdom and neighbouring countries."

Pentagon's top weapons buyer says Congress must act on munitions

Michael Duffey, the under secretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment, on Friday (local time), said that lawmakers must “step up and deliver” on US President Donald Trump administration's $1.5 trillion funding request if the military is to replenish its stockpiles of key air defense interceptors and deep-strike weapons that have seen heavy use in the Iran war. Duffey said, "We have the contracts in place; we have the acquisition reform in place," and added, "We need that funding to deliver for the warfighter.”

Iranian President lashes out at US, Israel, says Tehran stood against them

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Friday slammed the United States and Israel over the war that they started in February this year and accused them of trying to bully Iran. He said Iran will never surrender and will push back. Pezeshkian, who arrived in India on Friday to attend the BRICS Summit, addressed Indian religious leaders, intellectuals and business leaders, and said that Tehran has been able to "successfully stand against Israel and the United States at the same time".

According to a translation of his speech, Pezeshkian said, "They want to bully us, and we do not want to be bullied. We never kneel down before them. If they push us, we push back. They claim that they are advocates of human rights. In truth, they are the devils who are the true terrorists, because they killed 168 schoolchildren in one instant, thanks to their modern technologies. You call us terrorists? What about you, who kill human beings, bomb scientists, and attack schools and hospitals?”

US-Iran war news LIVE: Iran and UAE back joint BRICS statement urging restraint in war

Iran and the United Arab Emirates signed up to a joint statement from the BRICS group of nations that called for restraint in the Middle East war on Saturday, in what was seen as a sign of diplomatic progress between the countries divided by the war.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also met the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi on the sidelines of the first day of the New Delhi summit, in the countries' highest-level meeting since the start of the conflict.

The two leaders discussed regional and international issues, de-escalation, stability, and efforts to advance regional peace and development, the Abu Dhabi media office said on X, without referring to any resolution to the discussions.

The BRICS summit is a test of the diplomatic clout of a bloc set up in 2009 to challenge a world order dominated by the United States and its Western allies. It originally comprised Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia and Indonesia as well as Iran and the UAE.

Summit organisers and diplomats have been focused on bridging the Iran-UAE divide, even as the United States and Iran resume tit-for-tat strikes in the six-month-old war.

Iran has launched repeated attacks on the UAE during the conflict, most recently in late August when it targeted the Al Minhad Air Base that housed U.S. forces and helicopters.

"We express deep concern over the continued escalation of tensions in Middle East/West Asia ... call for exercising maximum restraint, as well as avoiding actions that could further aggravate the situation," the joint BRICS declaration read.

It called for the protection of civilians, urged respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and stressed the need to protect global trade, supply chains, energy flows and maritime security.
