The United States Department of Defense on Wednesday, 4 March, released the names of the last two soldiers among the six killed in an Iranian drone strike at the Shuaiba port in Kuwait on 1 March. This comes a day after the US Department of Defense announced the names of four other soldiers killed in the Iran war.
The Pentagon identified the soldiers as:
Both were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, Des Moines, Iowa.
According to the Department of War (DoW), these two Army Reserve Soldiers were supporting ‘Operation Epic Fury’ when they were killed.
The Pentagon, in a statement, said, “Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, Calif., was at the scene of the incident on March 1, 2026, in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, and is believed to be the individual who perished at the scene."
However, the medical examination of the body of Marzan is pending, following which identification will be confirmed.
In another press release, DoW said, “Maj. Jeffrey R. O'Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa, died on March 1, 2026, in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, during an unmanned aircraft system attack.”
The other four US service members killed in the Iranian attack are listed below:
The US-Israel jointly attacked Iran on 28 February, in which Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. US President Donald Trump named it ‘Operation Epic Fury' calling this military strike a “major combat operation” in a post on Truth Social while Israel named it ‘Operation Roaring Lion.’ The strikes targeted key Iranian military sites, including missile facilities, naval bases and locations near Khamenei’s office.
Thereafter, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched retaliatory strikes under ‘Operation True Promise 4.’ In retaliation for the death of its Supreme Leader, Iran attacked US military bases, consulates and embassies across the Gulf region.
The Iranian drones evaded US air defences and hit the makeshift operations centre at Shuaiba civilian port in Kuwait around 9:00 AM on Sunday, 1 February, WSJ reported. In this incident, six American servicemembers were killed, and several others were seriously wounded.
