The Southwest monsoon has also hit India a week after the normal date of June 1, with rainfall predicted across various regions in the country.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains in Uttarakhand from 11-13 June. The weather office in its forecast also stated that there is a possibility of rain in some places in the hilly districts of the state on Saturday.
As per the IMD, on 11 June, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarakhand. For 12-13 June predictions, it said that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning, hail, and squall (Wind Speed 50-60 kmph gusting up to 70 Kmph) is likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile the Southwest monsoon hit India on Thursday with its onset over Kerala, a week after the normal date of June 1.
"It has advanced into the remaining parts of the South Arabian Sea and some parts of the Central Arabian Sea, the entire Lakshadweep area, most parts of Kerala, most parts of South Tamil Nadu, the remaining parts of the Comorin area, Gulf of Mannar, some more parts of Southwest, and Central and Northeast Bay of Bengal from today (Thursday) onwards," the IMD said in a statement.

Rainfall prediction in other states.
In Northeast India, IMD has predicted light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning very likely over the region during next 5 days.
"Very Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places in Assam & Meghalaya on 12th & 13th June. Isolated heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya during next 5 days and over Manipur & Mizoram on 10th & 12th June.
In South India, IMD said that light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over the region during next 5 days.
Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Kerala and Coastal Karnataka during next 3 days and over Lakshadweep during next 2 days.
In East India, as per IMD, very Heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during 11th-13th June. Moreover, isolated heavy rainfall has been predicted over Andaman & Nicobar islands during 09th-11th June and over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on 09th & 10th June.
