Russian President Vladimir Putin, who had recently made headlines for his unusual suggestion to the Russians – ‘have sex during work breaks’ – is back with another proposal. This time, it's about porn!

Putin's advice was aimed at addressing the country's declining birth rate.

In an interview with Russia Today, Putin acknowledged the widespread popularity of porn, not only in Russia but the entire world.

“Porn sites are visited all across the world. It is not just an issue for us, but for everyone,” Putin said.

Here's what Putin said about porn:

The Russian President acknowledged that banning and prohibiting adult content might not be a solution and suggested creating “interesting and passionate” alternatives.

“There can be bans and prohibitions, but one has to always come up with alternatives — something more engaging and more interesting than a porn website to fill the void that causes greater interest,” he told Russia Today.

‘Have sex during work breaks’

Putin has reportedly suggested Russians to engage in sexual activity and have “romantic meetings” during their lunch and coffee breaks.

According to a Metro report, Putin said, “The preservation of the Russian people is our highest national priority. The fate of Russia depends on how many of us there will be. It is a question of national importance.”

Russia's declining birth rate

The fertility rate in Russia has dropped to 1.5 children per woman, which is much lower than the 2.1 rate needed to ensure demographic stability.

Moreover, it is expected that the population of Russia will decrease to about 130 million by 2050 from the current population of 144 million.

In response, the Kremlin has introduced various initiatives to address the issue, including offering free fertility screenings for women aged 18 to 40 in Moscow to assess their reproductive health.

While access to abortion is becoming more and more restricted, women under the age of 24 years in Chelyabinsk are being rewarded £8,500 for giving birth to their first child.
