Air India to refund all passengers after Delhi-San Francisco flight was diverted to Russia
Air India passengers stranded for 56 hours after emergency landing in Siberia finally land in San Francisco. They are set to receive a full refund and a future travel voucher.

Passengers aboard a wayward Air India flight landed in San Francisco on Thursday afternoon - nearly 56 hours after departing from Delhi. The original Boeing 777 flight carrying 216 passengers and 16 crew members had abruptly landed in Siberia's Magadan airport on Tuesday after developing a “technical issue with one of its engines". The Indian carrier said on Thursday that it would be issuing a full refund to the passengers.
“We will fully refund the fare for your journey and, in addition, provide you a voucher for future travel on Air India," Air India told the passengers in an official communique.
A mid-air glitch in one of the Boeing 777-200LR aircraft engines had prompted AI 173 to land in the Magadan port city in far east Russia. The aviation company eventually dispatched a ferry flight from Mumbai to Magadan on Wednesday. The stranded passengers and crew were flown to San Francisco on Thursday after the replacement aircraft took off from Magadan at 1027 hours (local time) on June 8.
