Biden accused of taking $5 million bribe from Ukrainian firm: Report

An FBI informant said Burisma paid the bribe between 2015 and 2016 to solicit then-Vice President Biden‘s help in thwarting a Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating the company, according to confirmed reports by The Washington Times.

An executive from the Ukrainian energy company, Burisma, claims to have documents proving that he bribed President Biden with $5 million while the latter was still vice president, a paid informant told the FBI, according to a report by The Washington Times.

The “trusted" and “highly credible" FBI informant said Burisma paid the bribe between 2015 and 2016 to solicit then-Vice President Biden‘s help in thwarting a Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating the company, according to confirmed reports by The Washington Times.

The report claims that Burisma paid an additional $5 million to Hunter Biden, the president’s son, who served on Burisma‘s board at the time and received a $1 million annual salary at the energy company. The scheme was concealed using multiple bank accounts.

On the other hand, the US President has dismissed the Republican assertions as “malarkey"  that he was involved in a multi-million dollar bribery scheme. The question came at the end of a 40-minute press conference that Biden held with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, where the two leaders discussed their nations’ commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense.

They pledged to responsibly advance the use of artificial intelligence technology, and to find more ways for the two countries to better trade with each other. Asked for his response to the bribery allegation, Biden quipped, “Where’s the money? I’m joking. It’s a bunch of malarkey."

The FBI was informed about the bribery case in June 2020 with a confidential human source who indicated that Joe Biden and a foreign individual were allegedly involved in a criminal bribery scheme, the report added referrring to an FBI FD-1023 form which is used by FBI agents to document unverified information provided by confidential human sources. A Republican house-led panel plans a round of subpoenas in the coming days that will seek new financial documents from Biden family associates, sources told The Times.
