Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie legal battle gets bitter: ‘Jolie’s actions severely damaging...’

Brad Pitt's legal battle with Angelina Jolie over their shared ownership of a French winery continues, with Pitt's lawyers calling Jolie's sale of her stake ‘vindictive.’ Jolie's attorney responded by referencing abuse allegations made against Pitt in 2016.

Brad Pitt remains determined in his legal battle against his ex-wife Angelina Jolie over their shared ownership of a French winery, according to new legal documents filed by Pitt's attorneys. The documents, obtained by CNN, label Jolie's sale of her stake in Château Miraval in 2021 as "vindictive" following an "adverse custody ruling."

The documents state, “Her decision to terminate negotiations with Pitt was intentional and pretextual,"

“As will be demonstrated at trial, Jolie’s actions were unlawful, severely and intentionally damaging Pitt and unjustly enriching herself," the documents further stated.

In response, Jolie's attorney, Paul Murphy, referring to allegations of abuse made by Jolie in a 2016 court filing that were part of an October court filing by Jolie in the case, on Friday said ,“Still today and in the seven years since that fateful plane ride, he personally has never publicly denied that it happened. The reality is that Pitt refused to complete the Miraval sale with Jolie unless she agreed to being silenced about the abuse."

A representative for Pitt previously disputed details in the October filing, stating, “Brad has accepted responsibility for what he did but will not for things he didn’t do."

The FBI, after investigating the matter, chose not to pursue further investigation or press charges against Pitt.

In a statement to CNN at the time, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said, “In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation. No charges have been filed in this matter."

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie filed for divorce in 2016 and were declared legally single in 2019, but the custody arrangement for their minor children has yet to be finalized.

Jolie sold her stake in Château Miraval in October 2021 to Tenute del Mondo, a subsidiary of Stoli Group, which is controlled by Russian oligarch Yuri Shefler.

Pitt filed a lawsuit in 2022, claiming that the sale was unlawful because they had agreed not to sell without each other's consent. Jolie filed a countersuit , stating that there was no such agreement and that she sold her portion of the winery to achieve financial independence and closure from Pitt.

The former couple acquired Château Miraval, a country estate and winery located in the south of France, in 2008.
