US Defense Secretary Austin expresses concerns over global challenges, including China's bullying, Russian aggression against Ukraine, and transnational issues. China responds, blaming the US for coercive and hegemonic measures.
The US Defence Secretary has voiced concerns over various global challenges, including bullying and coercion from China, Russian aggression against Ukraine, and transnational issues like terrorism and climate change.
“We face a rapidly changing world. We see bullying and coercion from China, Russian aggression against Ukraine and transnational challenges such as terrorism&climate change," said US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
In response, the Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in India has stated that China contributes to world peace and prosperity, placing the blame on the US for engaging in coercive and hegemonic measures.
“China is a contributor to world peace and prosperity. It is the US, not China, who resorts to all types of measures for coercion and hegemony. Victims of US coercion and bullying include its allies and partners, with developing countries bearing the brunt of it," the Chinese embassy official responded.
The US defense secretary arrived in New Delhi on Sunday on a two-day tour that comes over two weeks ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to Washington.
