A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck off Russia’s Kuril Islands on Sunday, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), the agency said.

Earlier in the day, an earthquake of magnitude 3.4 had struck Changlang of Arunachal Pradesh, the National Centre for Seismology said in a statement. The Changlang earthquake struck at 08:50 am.

The earthquake, with a depth of 10 km, was located at coordinates 27.32° N latitude and 96.12° E longitude. No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received.

The first earthquake hit Myanmar at a depth of 80 kilometres at 12:26 am IST, followed by one at 12:52 am IST, at a shallow depth of 25 kilometres.

NCS said on X, “EQ of M: 3.2, On: 15/02/2026 00:26:53 IST, Lat: 23.53 N, Long: 94.59 E, Depth: 80 km, Location: Myanmar.”

Earlier this month, an earthquake of magnitude 4.5 struck Myanmar on Sunday at 08:17 am, according to the National Centre for Seismology.

The earthquake, with a depth of 100 km, was located at coordinates 22.16° N latitude and 94.51° E longitude.

Before the 4.5 earthquake, Myanmar had also witnessed a 6.0 magnitude earthquake followed by another quake of magnitude 5.3 at 9:21 pm. The tremors were also felt in Kolkata of West Bengal.

On Saturday, February 14, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Vanuatu on Saturday, with a local resident describing the tremor as “very big,” though there were no immediate reports of damage.

The United States Geological Survey said the epicentre was located about 50 kilometres (31 miles) west of Port Olry village on Espiritu Santo island.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami threat from the quake, which struck the island nation shortly before 1:30 pm (0230 GMT).
