Twitter owner Elon Musk has said that he will continue to voice out his political opinions even if that means losing out on more money. In a conversation with CNBC, Musk was asked why does he share his political views publicly when stakeholders in his company like advertisers on Twitter may not agree with his views and opens him up to criticism.

Musk first quoted a scene from the movie ‘The Princess Bride’ to clarify his position. He said, “I am reminded of a scene in The Princess Bride where he(Inigo Montoya's character) confronts the person who killed his father and he says Offer me money, Offer me power. I don't care"

The interviewer asks Musk, ‘So you don’t care, you wanna share what you have to say'. Musk replied, “I'll say what I want to say and if the consequence of that is losing money then so be it"

Recently, the Tesla CEO had criticized billionaire investor George Soros and compared him to the villain in X-Men movies Magneto. Musk also went on to say that Soros wants to erode the very fabric of civilization.

Replying to a tweet that mentioned Soros' Holocaust roots, Musk replied, “You assume they are good intentions. They are not. He wants to erode the very fabric of civilization. Soros hates humanity."

Musk's tweets have been the centre of much attention and controversy over the years. A tweet by Musk on taking his electric vehicle company Tesla private even led to legal troubles for the billionaire. Musk had insinuated that he will take Tesla private at $420 per share but that deal never materialized.

Musk had later settled with US Securities and Exchange Commission for $20 million and the condition that his Tesla-related tweets will be approved by a lawyer before he posts them.
