Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Hamas militants have about three or four days to respond to his Gaza peace plan proposal, that calls for the disarmament of the group, or face the consequences.
Claiming that the Hamas has about "three or four days" to respond," Trump said that “Hamas is either going to be doing it or not, and if it's not, it's going to be a very sad end.”
Trump mentioned about the days to reporters as he departed the White House. He said the Israeli and Arab leaders had accepted the plan and that they were "just waiting for Hamas".
The POTUS' Gaza peace plan calls for a ceasefire, release of hostages by Hamas within 72 hours, disarmament of Hamas and gradual Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. Trump presented the plan, alongside Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.
The deal also demands that Hamas militants be excluded from future roles in the government, but those who agreed to "peaceful co-existence" would be given amnesty, as per reports by news agencies.
Trump has said that Hamas militants will “pay in hell” if they do not go ahead with his peace plan proposal.
"We have one signature that we need, and that signature will pay in hell if they don't sign. I hope they sign for their own good and create something really great," Trump told US generals and admirals in Quantico, Virginia.
“If Hamas rejects your plan, Mr President, or if they supposedly accept it and then do everything to counter it, then Israel will finish the job by itself," Netanyahu had earlier told Trump when he unveiled the plan. "This can be done the easy way or it can be done the hard way, but it will be done”
Asked if there was room for negotiations on the peace plan, Trump said: "Not much."
Hamas said Tuesday it will discuss Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza within the group and with other Palestinian factions before responding. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has already thrown his support behind it, but it’s unclear whether Hamas will agree and when it will give its response, mentioned a report by AP.
