2 min read 01 Jun 2023, 02:59 PM ISTAfter holding a range of high-level talks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ announced key decisions and deals finalised during the meeting, which included Ramayana Circuit, railway, trade, and energy projects

Based on the “hit" formula for India-Nepal relations, found in PM Modi's first visit to Nepal in 2014, PM Modi and his Nepalese counterpart established a lot of key contracts and finalised many important decisions on Thursday.
The two leaders held high-level talks and jointly launched several infrastructure projects and signed seven agreements to boost cooperation in key areas like trade and energy.
"I remember, 9 years ago, in 2014, I made my first visit to Nepal. At that time I had given a "hit" formula for India-Nepal relations - Highways, I-ways, and Trans-ways. I had said that we will establish such contacts between India-Nepal that our borders do not become barriers between us. Today Nepal PM and I have taken many important decisions to make our partnership a super hit in the future," said PM Modi during the press meeting at Hyderabad House in Delhi.
He also stressed that the two nations will work to take their bilateral ties to Himalayan heights and resolve all matters. Apart from finalising agreements, PM Modi and Nepalese PM virtually inaugurated integrated check posts at Rupaidiha in India and Nepalgunj in Nepal. They also virtually flagged off a cargo train from Bathnaha in Bihar to the Nepal custom yard.
Railway projects and border issues
In his media address, Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, ‘Prachanda’, urged PM, Modi, to resolve border issues with bilateral talks and extended his invitation to PM Modi to visit Nepal.
"This is my fourth visit to India. The relationship between India and Nepal is age-old. Today we discussed steps to strengthen the ties between both nations. We also jointly launched many groundbreaking projects," said Nepal PM.
India and Nepal also signed key trade and transit agreements. In his media address, PM Modi said that the two leaders established new rail links to increase physical connectivity. In addition to this, a long-term power trade agreement between India and Nepal, and the initiation of the project on the Ramayana Circuit, were also discussed.
“We have established new rail links to increase physical connectivity. Long term power trade agreement has been established between India and Nepal today. This will give strength to the power sector of our countries. The religious and cultural ties between India and Nepal are very old and strong. To further strengthen this, we have decided that projects related to Ramayana Circuit should be expedited," said PM Modi.
The two leaders jointly unveiled the e-plaque of the Kurtha-Bijalpura section of the Railway and flagged off the Indian Railway cargo train from Bathnaha to Nepal Custom Yard.
