A residential building tower in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) caught on fire. Videos of the incident has been surfacing on social media. The video claims that the building caught fire on Monday night.
As reported by Khaleej Times, the incident occurred in the Tower 02 of the Ajman One complex. The Ajman police said that the civil defence and the teams of police were able to successfully control the fire. It also added that no injuries were reported.
The Ajman Police said that the civil defense teams were able to control and extinguish the fire in Ajman One Tower, in the presence of His Excellency Major General Dr. Jassim Muhammad Al Marzouqi, Commander-in-Chief of Civil Defense, and Brigadier General Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director General of Police Operations at Ajman Police.
Brigadier Abdullah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director General of Police Operations at Ajman Police said that seven buses were provided by the Transport Authority, and in cooperation with the Red Crescent, the residents of the damaged tower were transferred to live in hotels in the emirates of Ajman and Sharjah.
This incident has comes just days after UAE Ministry of Interior figures showed a significant increase in the number of building fires, The National News has reported. As per the official figures, more than 3,000 incidents were reported in 2022, 2,090 in 2021 and 1,968 in 2020.
As per the Ministry figures, majority of fires took place in residential areas. Homes and apartments accounted for 1,385 incidents, 256 fires in commercial buildings, 153 on farms, 122 at public service facilities. The ministry's figures did not show the number or deaths or injuries caused during the incident.
This year in April, Sixteen people had died and about nine were injured after a massive engulfed through the fourth floor of a residential building in Dubai, Khaleej Times has reported.
