India ready to assist Suriname in progress and development: President Murmu
President Murmu highlighted the progress India has achieved in various sectors, including infrastructure, digital services, new technology, and fintech.
New Delhi: India will share its experiences and extend assistance to Suriname in its progress and development, said President Draupadi Murmu on Wednesday, highlighting the deep-rooted historical and cultural connections between the two nations.
President Murmu, who is in Suriname, highlighted the progress India has achieved in various sectors, including infrastructure, digital services, new technology, and fintech.
Murmu and her Surinamese counterpart Chandrikapersad Santokhi, expressed their commitment to fostering bilateral ties and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
"India and Suriname may be separated by geography, but the two countries are united by their shared history and heritage. Suriname and the Surinamese people hold a very special place in the hearts of Indians," she added.
President Murmu appreciated the Indian diaspora in Suriname for playing a crucial role in the economic, political and social development of the country.
