US President Joe Biden reportedly tripped on a sandbag after handing out the last diploma during a graduation ceremony at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado. However, he quickly regained his footing and walked back to his seat, appearing unharmed.

A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing Biden walking without assistance and later smiling and jogging towards his vehicle. The White House assured that the President was fine after the fall, according to CNN.

During the commencement address for the academy's graduates, President Biden stumbled as he jogged away from the podium. After spending over 90 minutes congratulating the cadets and distributing certificates, he made his way to his seat but lost his balance and fell to the floor. The President landed on his right hip but quickly used his right hand to stand back up. Secret Service personnel and an Air Force Academy administrator rushed to his aid, holding onto his arms as he regained his footing.

CNN reported that Biden indicated something had obstructed his path, gesturing towards the spot where he had fallen. Videos showed sandbags placed near the platform, likely as a safety measure.

Despite the stumble, the President managed to make his way back to his seat without assistance and appeared to be in good spirits as the ceremony concluded.

"He's fine. There was a sandbag on stage while he was shaking hands," communications director Ben LaBolt tweeted.

The president remained silent when questioned about the incident as he left Colorado an hour after he fell.

At 80, Biden is the oldest president in the country. He has suffered similar falls, one of which happened in Delaware, his home state, while riding a bike. He was also pictured tripping on the stairs as he boarded Air Force One, CNN reported.
