King Charles is determined to reconcile the division within his family, specifically between his son Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who resigned as senior members of the royal family in March 2020, according to Marca.
According to royal expert Richard Palmer, King Charles would be willing to invite them back to the United Kingdom if they chose to return. However, the departure of Harry and Meghan has caused tension within the royal family, particularly affecting King Charles and Prince William.
"He's quite keen to heal that family rift, but it's obviously very raw and very noticeable. While he's keen to heal that rift, he hasn't met his son the last two times he's been over to the UK," explained the royal expert.
King Charles recently observed his inaugural official birthday as the reigning monarch, signifying a significant milestone in his reign. Although his actual birthday falls on November 14 and he will turn 75, the monarch's official birthday is customarily commemorated in the summer through the Trooping the Colour ceremony, which provides an opportunity for the public to partake in the celebrations. This long-standing tradition has been upheld for over 260 years.
The birthday procession occurred from Buckingham Palace along The Mall to Horse Guards Parade, where the King was honored with a royal salute and conducted an inspection of the military present on the parade. From the balcony, members of the royal family gathered to witness the grand display.
In a remarkable and significant gesture, King Charles broke a three-decade tradition by riding on horseback during the Trooping the Colour ceremony. The last reigning monarch to do so was Queen Elizabeth, who rode her cherished horse Burmese in the 1986 ceremony.
Burmese, a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, faithfully served as the Queen's ceremonial mount for 18 years until retirement. Since then, carriages have been used for Trooping the Colour. The Duke of Edinburgh, fulfilling his role as Colonel of the 1st Battalion London Guards, which was established the previous year, also participated in the ceremony.
