Met Gala 2023 highlights: Cost of ticket at ₹40 lakh, table at ₹2.5 crore

The cost of a single ticket for Met Gala 2023 is set at $50,000 (over ₹40 lakh), while tables are available at a starting price of $300,000 (around ₹2.5 crore).

Approximately 400 guests were in attendance at the exclusive fundraising event for the Costume Institute held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Alia took to Instagram and teased fans with a monochrome picture of herself in her Met Gala outfit.

Roger Federer, one of the evening’s chairs, was among the early arrivals. He walked up the Met’s carpeted after fellow co-chair Dua Lipa arrived.

The tennis star said it makes sense for athletes to be at the Met Gala because they’ve become a bigger part of the fashion world in recent years.

“I think the sports people have gotten more and more fashionable,” Federer said. “We’re fortunate to get onto covers much more frequently nowadays. Before it was always the models, the good-looking people, not the athletes," Federer added.

Some big names are missing from the guest list. The mononymous showstoppers from previous years — Beyoncé, Rihanna and Zendaya — all are not in the list.

Blake Lively has already anniunced that she wouldn't make it this year. Lively's good friend Taylor Swift is also not on the list/

The guest list includes supermodels like Amber Valletta, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Carolyn Murphy, Emily Ratajkowski and Gigi Hadid walking alongside sports icons like Serena Williams, host Roger Federer, Dwyane Wade, Russell Westbrook, Patrick Mahomes and Andy Roddick, news agency AP reported. 

Stars from hit shows like “Succession,” including Jeremy Strong and Alexander Skarsgård and “The Last of Us,” with Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal are expected, as are several recent Oscar winners like “Everything Everywhere All At Once’s” Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh, the report added.

Set in 14 galleries, the show’s very walls have been constructed to embody the essential contradiction, or duality, in Lagerfeld’s style and persona — a series of curved and straight lines.

The show, titled “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” is large in scope but intricately detailed, and clear in its message: Lagerfeld’s creative tentacles spread far beyond fashion into culture, and constantly adapted with the times.

The invitation-only gala earned $17.4 million last year for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, a self-funding department with a budget dependent on the A-list affair. The price of attending went up this year to $300,000 for a table and $50,000 for a single ticket.

The Met Gala livestream will be hosted by actor and producer La La Anthony, writer Derek Blasberg, and Saturday Night Live's Chloe Fineman. Internet multi-hyphenate Emma Chamberlain will return as Vogue's special correspondent.
