At least three people died after suicide bombers and gunmen attacked the Frontier Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Peshawar on Monday, 24 November.
Police told Reuters that gunmen stormed the paramilitary force headquarters, while many on social media reported hearing two powerful blasts in Pakistan's northwestern city.
Sources said two suicide bombers struck the paramilitary force compound, killing three people.
"The first suicide bomber carried out an attack on the main entrance of the constabulary and the other one entered the compound," a senior official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
"Law enforcement personnel, including the army and police, have cordoned off the area and are carefully handling the situation as we suspect there are some terrorists inside the headquarters,” the official added.
The headquarters of the force is located in a crowded area, close to a military cantonment.
"The road has been closed for traffic and cordoned off by the army, police and (security) personnel," Safdar Khan, a resident of the area, told Reuters.
Initial reports said a blast occurred at the main gate of the FC headquarters, followed by heavy gunfire. Witnesses reported intense firing continuing after the explosions.
Two unverified videos are circulating on social media. One appeared to show two armed men pointing guns and shouting, while another showed destruction.
LiveMint could not independently verify the videos shared below.
Meanwhile, a person who claimed to be a journalist also shared a few videos from the incident.
He said, “Three Khawarij terrorists were killed while trying to enter the gate, FC sources confirmed. Two FC personnel embraced martyrdom, and four others were injured. Clearance operation is underway inside the headquarters.”
He claimed that heavy firing continued in the area. “Main Peshawar road saddar has been closed for the public,” he said.
