The 19-year-old son of Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, Suleman Dawood, was 'terrified' before the trip on the ill-fated voyage to view the Titanic shipwreck, Moneycontrol quoted his aunt as saying.
As per details, Suleman Dawood was among the five passengers presumed dead in a catastrophic implosion that is believed to have destroyed OceanGate’s Titan submersible this week. It was on its way to view the historic shipwreck in the Atlantic Ocean.
Suleman, who accompanied his father on the trip, was the youngest victim of the tragedy.
NBC News quoted the older sister of Shahzada Dawood -- Azmeh Dawood -- from her home in Amsterdam that her nephew had told a relative that he 'wasn’t up' for the voyage.
She further added that Suleman wanted to please his father and ended up going on the expedition as it was falling over Father’s Day weekend.
As per details, Shahzada Dawood was one of Pakistan’s wealthiest men and the vice chairman of Karachi-based Engro Corporation. The firm is Pakistan's largest conglomerate and has investments in fertilizers, vehicle manufacturing, energy, and digital technologies.
Shahzada, Suleman, and others were part of the five-member crew of OceanGate’s Titanic expedition, added the report.
Stating that she was left devastated after reports of OceanGate's expedition disaster, NBC quoted Azmeh as saying, "I am thinking of Suleman, who is 19, in there, just perhaps gasping for breath... It's been crippling, to be honest."
“I personally have found it kind of difficult to breathe thinking of them,” she added. “I never thought I would have an issue with drawing breath. It's been unlike any experience I've ever had,” she added.
Azmeh even recalled that her brother was absolutely obsessed with the Titanic even as a young child and one of his favourite movies as a child was ‘A Night to Remember.’
