Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his time at the G7 Summit in Hiroshima after meetings with British PM Rishi Sunak and Brazil’s President Lula Inacio da Silva.
“The two leaders reviewed their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including taking stock of progress in India-UK FTA negotiations,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a press release about the Modi-Sunak meet.
Modi and Sunak first met on the sidelines of G20 Summit in Bali last year and held bilateral talks in November 2022.
PM Modi met Lula Inacio da Silva, Brazil’s president who took office for a third term at the start of this year.
Mint had reported that Brazil is likely to push for closer ties with India through the India-Brazil-South Africa Forum and G-4, a grouping of countries aimed at multilateral reform.
The close of the summit marks the close of an intense period of diplomatic activity for prime minister Modi. On Saturday, he met South Korean president Yoon Seok Yeol, France’s Emmanuel Macron and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky. He met European Commission president Ursula Von Der Leyen.
