Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a maiden state visit to the United States on the invitation of President Joseph Biden and First lady Jill Biden. Prime Minister Modi is visiting the US from June 21-24.

PM Modi arrived at the US House of Representatives on Thursday where he addressed the joint session of the US Congress shortly. While addressing the meeting, he said that it is always a great honour to address the US Congress.

He also highlighted India's sturdy economic journey. He said, "When I first visited the US as the PM, India was the 10th largest economy in the world. Today, India is the 5th largest economy. And India will be the third-largest economy soon....When India grows the whole world grows."

Meanwhile, the Empire State Building in New York on Thursday lit up in the Indian tricolour on the event of PM Modi's three-day State visit to the United States

PM Modi is scheduled to attend the State Department luncheon and Indian community event on Friday. Mary Millben, a prominent African-American Hollywood actress and singer will perform here on Friday at the concluding event for the Official State Visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highly popular in India for her singing of the National Anthem Jan Gana Mana and Om Jai Jagdiseh Hare, Millben, 38, will perform the Indian national anthem at an invitation-only, diaspora event hosted by the United States Indian Community Foundation (USICF) at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC.

The One World Trade Center building in New York also lit up in Insia's tr-colour to celebrate PM Modi's maiden state visit to US.

Meanwhile on Thursday, Narendra Modi did something very unusual on Thursday at the White House — he took questions from journalists.

It's a rare occurrence for the Indian prime minister who avoids unscripted moments and has presided over a steady decline in press freedom in his country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to visit the 11th-century Al-Hakim Mosque here during his two-day visit to Egypt beginning on Saturday.

PM Modi's visit to the mosque is scheduled as the first event on the last day of his two-day programme in Egypt's sprawling capital Cairo.
