Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was featured on a New York Times Square billboard on Saturday ahead of his visit to the city. The former MP is currently on a three city six day tour of the US and has already visited San Francisco and Washington DC. The senior politician is slated to address thousands of Indian Americans at the Javits Center in New York on June 4.
Visuals shared by party leaders and supporters on social media showed Gandhi interacting with people in a montage stitched together from the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
For the uninitiated, the busy area in New York is always lit up by digital billboards and advertisements as well as businesses offering 24/7 services. One of the world's busiest pedestrian areas, being featured on the digital screens is considered to be something of an accomplishment by many.
Gandhi arrived in San Francisco on Tuesday on a three-city US tour during which he will interact with the Indian diaspora and meet American lawmakers. Ahead of his visit to New York, the Congress leader is set to attend a dinner hosted by Indian-American entrepreneur Frank Islam and top business leaders, Senators and Congressmen.
During his visit to New York from June 3-4, he will hold meetings with thinkers at the Harvard Club at Harvard University, participate in a lunch event and meet a set of successful Indian-Americans in the creative industry, and address a public gathering at the Javits Center in New York.
