Donald Trump, on Wednesday, addressed the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, amid escalating tensions between the US and the European Union (EU) over Greenland, which the US President is seeking to annex.
Trump's address is being closely watched around the world given prevailing tensions – which also comes after Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's explosive speech at the WEF on Tuesday, wherein he highlighted a "rupture" in the rules-based global order and warned of great powers acting without constraint, alluding to the US President without naming him.
Trump took off for Davos in the wee hours of Wednesday, but had to return to US soil shortly after takeoff due to an electrical issue on board Air Force One.
The US President is currently en route Davos, having switched planes, and is expected to address the WEF shortly after lunch, local time.
Prior to Trump's address, the WEF will also see a dedicated panel on India's economic growth, which will see former IMF chief Gita Gopinath, Bharti Enterprises chief Sunil Mittal, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and IKEA CEO Juvencio Maeztu Herrera speak as panel.

Trump said, "All the United States is asking for is a place called Greenland."
He added, "All we're asking for is to get Greenland, including right title and ownership, because you need the ownership to defend it," Trump said. "You can't defend it on a lease."
"The problem with NATO is that we'll be there for them 100%," Trump said. "But I'm not sure that they'll be there for us."
“Canada gets a lot of freebies from us, by the way. They should be grateful also, but they’re not. I watched your prime minister yesterday. He wasn’t so grateful,” Trump said.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for "immediate negotiations" with European allies to discuss a potential United States' acquisition of Greenland, stressing that the move would not threaten NATO but rather strengthen the alliance.
Speaking at the 56th Annual Summit of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the US President argued that Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark, could be better developed and secured under US control and talked of benefits for both the US and European nations.
"It's the United States alone that can protect this giant mass of land, this giant piece of ice, develop it and improve it and make it so that it's good for Europe and safe for Europe and good for us. That's the reason I'm seeking immediate negotiations to once again discuss the acquisition of Greenland by the United States, just as we have acquired many other territories throughout our history, as many of the European nations have," he said.
"But this would not be a threat to NATO. This would greatly enhance the security of the entire alliance, the NATO alliance. The United States is treated very unfairly by NATO. We give so much and we get so little in return. I've been a critic of NATO for many years. I've done more to help NATO than any other president by far. You wouldn't have NATO if I didn't get involved in my first term. The war with Ukraine is an example. It's a war that should have never started if the 2020 US presidential election weren't rigged. It was a rigged election. Everybody now knows that. They found out. People will soon be prosecuted for what they did," he added.
“We want a piece of ice for world protection, and they won't give it,” Trump said. “You can say yes, and we will be very appreciative. Or you can say no, and we will remember."
“The USA is the economic engine on the planet,” Trump said. “You all follow us down, and you follow us up.”
“I watched him (Emmanuel Macron) yesterday with those beautiful sunglasses. What the hell happened?” Trump said.
“Stock market will double in a short period of time,” Trump said.
“Canada lives because of United States, Mark remember this,” Trump said.
