People across the globe are concerned over the spreading cases of coronavirus. United Arab Emirates announced first confirmed case of Chinese coronavirus in the Middle East. This is thought to be the first confirmed case in the Middle East. "The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention announced a case of the new coronavirus affecting people from one family coming from the city of Wuhan in China," the state news agency WAM reported.

The UAE is a major air transport hub with its Dubai International airport ranked the world's third busiest. All passengers arriving from China at major UAE airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are screened on arrival, a precaution taken by airports elsewhere.

The toll from the novel coronavirus outbreak in China has soared to 132. The new virus, which is of the same genre as SARS of 2003, was first reported in WHO Disease outbreak news on January 5 in China's Wuhan. Till now it has progressively spread across many countries.

Coronavirus and its symptoms

Coronaviruses are a family of viruses that get their name from what they look like under a microscope - they are spherical and their surfaces are covered with "crown"-like spikes. Coronavirus infections have a wide range of symptoms, including fever, coughing, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. Mild cases can cause cold-like symptoms, while severe cases can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), kidney failure and death.
