US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said Iran was “negotiating on fumes,” adding that the country’s negotiating position had weakened significantly amid the ongoing conflict, as per AP.

He also stated that the upcoming November midterm elections would not influence his approach to the nearly three-month-old war, which has raised concerns over global economic stability

Oil prices fell around 4% on Wednesday after Iranian state television reported seeing a draft of an unofficial preliminary framework for a potential agreement between Iran and the United States aimed at ending hostilities and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, as per Reuters.

The decline came despite earlier tensions, including Iran’s accusation that the United States had violated a ceasefire and reports of a tanker explosion off the coast of Oman on Tuesday. The price drop was also supported by increased tanker movement through the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said during a cabinet meeting that Iran was keen to reach an agreement, but the United States was not yet satisfied with the terms, as per Reuters.

“Iran is very much intent, they want very much to make a deal. So far they haven't gotten there ... we're not satisfied with it, but we will be. We will be either that or we'll have to just finish the job,” Trump told reporters at the White House cabinet meeting.

In an interview with PBS News, Trump said Tehran would receive no concessions or sanctions relief in exchange for handing over its highly enriched uranium. He said any such arrangement would not include the lifting of sanctions.

President Donald Trump said Iran was very eager to reach an agreement with the United States, but said talks had not produced a result so far, Iran International reported.

Speaking at a Cabinet meeting at the White House, Trump also said Washington was not satisfied with the current state of negotiations with Tehran.

IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency reported, citing informed sources, that President Donald Trump may unilaterally announce in the coming hours that an agreement between the United States and the Islamic Republic has been finalised.

Fars described such a possible move as an attempt to apply pressure and shape public perception before remaining disputes are fully resolved.

A member of Iran’s negotiating team told Fars that some issues remain unresolved and that there would be “no agreement” until all matters raised by the Islamic Republic are settled.

The source said Tehran would formally announce the result if those issues are fully resolved.

“Negotiations are proceeding nicely,” the White House said on Iran, adding that US President Donald Trump has made "red lines clear”, reported Reuters.

The White House on Wednesday dismissed a report by Iranian state television claiming that Tehran had obtained a draft framework for a memorandum of understanding with the United States, calling the claim false and describing the alleged document as entirely fabricated.

Aluminium prices declined on Wednesday after Iran’s state television reported that Tehran had secured a draft framework agreement that could allow shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to return to pre-conflict levels within a month, pending a final deal, as per Reuters.

On the London Metal Exchange, three-month aluminium fell 1.5% to $3,618 per metric ton by 1321 GMT. The metal had earlier surged to $3,707.50 on Tuesday, its highest level in over four years, driven by supply disruptions from the Middle East conflict.

The US military said it had “redirected” 109 commercial ships in the Arabian Sea as part of efforts to enforce President Donald Trump’s blockade on vessels travelling to and from Iranian ports through the Strait of Hormuz, reported Al Jazeera.

The blockade, covering the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, started on April 13 and has triggered a sharp energy crisis with major repercussions for the global economy.

US President Donald Trump is expected to hold discussions with senior officials at a critical stage in negotiations aimed at ending the conflict with Iran, just days after saying an agreement was “largely negotiated", as per Al Jazeera.

Iranian state television reported that Tehran had obtained a preliminary unofficial draft outlining a proposed memorandum of understanding with the United States.

According to the reported framework, Iran would restore commercial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-conflict levels within a month, while the US would pull back military forces from areas near Iran and remove its naval blockade.

South Korea’s Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that an Iranian anti-ship missile was likely used in an attack earlier this month on a cargo vessel operated by local shipping company HMM in the Strait of Hormuz, reported Reuters.

However, Saeed Koozechi, the Iranian ambassador to South Korea, refuted Tehran’s involvement in the incident, saying Iran “took no part” in the attack, according to Yonhap News Agency.

The Iranian embassy in Seoul did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation announced that Tabriz International Airport in northwestern Iran will resume operations.

“Tabriz Airport, which was attacked during the recent war, has now been restored to activity by Iranian specialists and will reopen on Wednesday,” Iran’s public broadcaster IRIB cited a spokesperson as saying, reported Al Jazeera.

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry claimed hostile forces had failed to defeat the country militarily and were now turning to alternative forms of confrontation, reported Al Jazeera.

According to the ministry, these methods include economic sanctions, cyber operations, arms smuggling, targeted killings and what it described as hostile media propaganda campaigns.

“The defeated enemy on the military front has now shifted its focus to soft war, cognitive warfare, and social provocations,” it said.

Ali Bagheri, deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reiterated that Tehran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium remains a non-negotiable issue in the ongoing discussions with the United States.

“This issue is not on the agenda of the negotiations,” Bagheri told Fars news agency on the sidelines of an international security conference in Moscow, Russia, reported Al Jazeera.

Air India on Wednesday announced temporary reductions and suspensions on several domestic routes, after earlier scaling back international operations amid a surge in fuel costs triggered by the conflict in the Middle East.

The sharp rise in aviation fuel prices follows Iran’s effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz after US-Israeli strikes on Tehran on February 28, fuelling concerns over airline profitability and pushing airfares higher.

"In continuation of our previously announced adjustments to select international services between June and August 2026, we have temporarily rationalised operations on certain domestic routes," Air India said Wednesday.

"These adjustments are driven by the sustained impact of high fuel prices on overall operations," it added.

A senior IRGC official said a fresh conflict with the United States is not expected, while cautioning that Iran is ready to respond forcefully to any aggression, reported the semi-official Tasnim news agency.

“The possibility of war is low because of the enemy’s weakness, but the armed forces are lying in wait,” stated Mohammad Akbarzadeh, deputy political chief of the IRGC’s Navy.

“Do not doubt we will turn the area from Chabahar to Mahshahr into a graveyard for aggressors,” he said, naming locations at each end of Iran’s lengthy southern coast.

US Iran War News LIVE Updates: As the United States laucnhes strikes on Iran, Mohammad Akbarzadeh, deputy political chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, warned the country, saying that while the possibility of war is low, forces are waiting with ‘full magazines’.

“The possibility of war is low because of the enemy’s weakness, the armed forces are lying in wait with full magazines,” he said.
