A US techie has spent millions of dollars to prevent aging and stay young. Bryan Johnson, the 45-year-old tech tycoon has dragged his teenage son to fulfill his bizarre wish. Johnson roped in son Talmage to provide blood transfusions. Johnson wanted to keep his internal organs, including his penis and rectum functioning youthfully.
Earlier Johnson used to receive plasma from an anonymous donor but he asked his son Talmage to provide a litre of his blood. The blood transfusion was divided into three batches --a batch of plasma, another of red and white blood cells, and platelets.
Johnnson's father Richard is also undergoing the same treatment.
In this peculiar experiment to stop humans from getting aged, a team of 30 doctors and heath experts were involved. Johnson reportedly screened anonymous donors for blood transfusion to ensure he was receiving blood from a person with an ideal body mass index, having a healthy lifestyle, and being free of disease.
In a recent study, scientists used plasma as an anti-aging technique by stitching young and old mice together so they shared a circulatory system. The older rodents showed improvement in their metabolism, bone structure, and cognitive function while the younger subjects showed that frequent blood donation could have positive effects.
However, there are no proven data on whether plasma swapping techniques can prevent aging for a longer period.
Earlier blood plasmas were transferred to patients experiencing trauma, severe liver disease, clotting deficiencies, etc.
Johnson started his experiment to control aging earlier this year. Johnson began an ultra-strict routine by waking up at 5 am with two dozen supplements. He included low-calorie vegan died, exercised for one hour, and brushed teeth using a ea-tree oil and antioxidant gel rinse.
Johnson founded Project Blueprint which encourages its followers to take daily measurements of their weight, body fat, glucose level, BMI, and heart-rate variation.
After conducting a slew of experiments with his body now Johnson says he has skin of a 28-year-old and the lung capacity of an 18-year-old.
