Months ago Joe Biden announced that he will run the US presidential elections again in 2024. Former President Donald Trump will also be in the race, who is also facing investigations into his finances, his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and his hoarding of government documents.

Other than Donald Trump, Ron De Santis, Nikki Haley, Mike Pence, Tim Scott, and others will also be contesting the elections. Know more about Joe Biden's top contenders in the next Presidential run.

Donald Trump

Despite facing several charges, which include investigations into his finances, his efforts to overturn the 2020 election and his hoarding of government documents, sexual harassment, Donald Trump will run the US Presidential elections in 2023. It was a shock for everyone in 2016 when Donald Trump registered one of the most unlikely victories and assumed the Oval Office at that time.

At this time, Donald Trump claims that the myriad of cases is nothing but a "witch hunt" by a liberal cabal of "deep state" conspiracists.

Ron DeSantis

Voters aligning to right-wing ideology, and who are not all-in on Trump have set their hopes on Ron DeSantis. The 44-year-old rising star of the right is serving as the Florida governor and previously worked in the US Navy. He was narrowly elected to lead the Sunshine State in 2018.

Ahead of the elections, DeSantis slowly distanced himself from his erstwhile mentor, Donald Trump, but vociferously encouraged his populist idea of ‘America First’. He is often seen as presenting a hard line on immigration.

"For me, the fight has only just begun," the governor said after easily winning re-election last year.

Mike Pence

The 63-year-old evangelical Christian is keen on entering the presidential election race to not just stand against Joe Biden but also compete with Donald Trump. He was known to be a Trump loyal, until Mike Pence was threatened with death by a mob of Trump supporters, as they ransacked the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

He is known to be a staunch opponent of abortion. He has worked as a former radio host and has been crisscrossing the country, speaking in many of the states seen as the most consequential in the Republican nomination race, though he has not yet declared his candidacy.

Nikki Haley

The former governor of South California and Trump's first ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley stands as the only female candidate in the Republican primary contest.

Till now, Haley claims she never lost any election. The 51-year-old daughter of Indian immigrants has spoken proudly of her time in the Trump administration. But the admiration came with a pinch of salt, as the South California governor criticized her boss' post-election crusade to relitigate debunked claims of voter fraud that he falsely alleges cost him the 2020 election.

Tim Scott

Senator Tim Scott is from Palmetto State and is aiming to be the first Black Republican president and entered the race officially on Monday.

It was only after his reelection to the Senate in 2022, he talked about how his grandfather voted for Barack Obama for president.

"I wish he had lived long enough to see perhaps another man of color elected president... But this time let it be a Republican!" he mused.

Other top contenders

Other candidates in the race are former governor Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, right-wing talk radio star Larry Elder -- the first African American in the race -- and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, whose parents hail from southwestern India, bring up the rear.

Other candidates who are not considered to make any changes in the vote count are tax consultant John Anthony Castro, businessman Perry Johnson, small-town mayor Steve Laffey and state-level Montana politician Corey Stapleton have also declared, but are not considered major candidates.
