Religious extremist and a designated terrorist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot dead by two youths in Canada on Sunday. Hardeep Singh Nijjar was shot in the parking lot of a gurdwara in Canada's Surrey.

Hardeep Singh Nijjar was the chief of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and held a significant position in Guru Nanak Sikh Gurudwara Sahib in Surrey, the place where he was murdered on Sunday evening.

The terrorist was under the scanner of the NIA for a long time and was an active participant in the ongoing protest of Sikh extremists outside the Indian consulate and High Commission. NIA had announced an award of 10 lakh on Nijjar.

Know all about Hardeep Singh Nijjar

-Hardeep Singh Nijjar was leading a campaign and propaganda against India. He was active in organising and leading demonstrations outside Indian missions in the US, the UK, Germany, and Canada. He is also behind targeted killings in Punjab.

-He used to work in close connection with other designated terrorists like Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, and Paramjit Singh Pamma under the banner of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) banned SFJ way back in 2019 due to its link with terrorist activities.

-As per NIA documents, Nijjar's residences in Canada were located at 8193, 143-A Street, Surrey BC, Canada, and 1418, 142 Street, 72 Avenue, BC (British Columbia) Canada.

-In 2020, NIA filed a chargesheet against Pannun, UK-based Paramjit Singh Pamma, and Canada-based Hardeep Singh Nijjar. In its charge sheet, NIA had designated SFJ as a frontal Khalistan terrorist outfit which is operating under the garb of a ‘Human Rights advocacy group’. Its offices are located in different countries including the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, etc. The outfit is operating in countries like Pakistan.

-Guru Nanak Sikh temple in Canada was forcibly occupied by Nijjar, who later became the president of the religious place. For the last two or three years, he was active in organising and taking part in protests held in front of the Consulate General of India, Vancouver.

-It is also reported that Nijjar used to work with Avtar Singh Khanda, a Khalistani leader of the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) who died due to cancer in the UK last week.

Who was Avtar Singh Khanda ?

Avtar Singh Khanada is a Khalistani leader of the KLF. During his last days, he was undergoing treatment for cancer in the UK. According to intelligence agencies, Khanda and Nijjar worked together to organize protests outside Indian high commissions. Moreover, they used to sponsor terror attacks in India.

He was a wanted terrorist for his involvement in the conspiracy to kill Sukhbir Singh Badal (president of Shiromani Akali Dal-B), former Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, and senior advocate Rajwinder Singh Bains.

Originally known as Avtar Singh Purba, he also indulged in the attack on the Indian High Commission in London. Last week, he died at a hospital in the city of Birmingham on Thursday morning after a prolonged illness. News of his death was given by a UK-based Sikh organisation in an official statement.

According to the Sikh Federation UK, which claims to be one of the largest Sikh organisations in the UK, said Avtar Singh was undergoing treatment for blood cancer. His condition was so severe, that he was on a life support system for the last few days.

He collaborated with the remaining members of the banned Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) active in Britain and other countries to accomplish terrorist activities there.
