PremiumINDIA Alliance Mumbai Meet Highlights: Opposition bloc INDIA concluded their crucial meeting in Mumbai on Friday. Top opposition leaders, who met here for a few hours in an informal setting yesterday on the first day of the third round of talks of their alliance, have decided to get into the poll mode and speed up their plans to take on the NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The leaders have emphasised that they must get their act together at the earliest while some stressed on the urgency to finalise seat sharing and come out with a joint agenda in a few weeks.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said, "They (opposition parties) have united only for power. However, they will be exposed again in 2023 (Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls) and 2024 (Lok Sabha elections)."
Reacting on the third INDIA bloc meeting, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, “Ye INDIA alliance 'anda' alliance ban jayega."
Addressing the press, BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "In the third meeting of the so-called alliance, there was no vision for the development of India, no roadmap for the upliftment of the poor, no strategy to address concerns of farmers or women and children. The most important is that there was not even an acknowledgement of the threat to India from terrorism, radicalisation and successionist forces...Their only recurrent theme is to abuse Shri Narendra Modi ji..."
Speaking to media, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said, “We have not announced the next meeting of INDIA alliance."
Speaking to reporters on the next INDIA bloc meeting, NCP MP Supriya Sule said it will take place in the national capital. "When do you want it to be held, we will hold it on those dates," she said when asked about dates for the same.
Addressing a gathering in Mumbai, Rahul Gandhi said, "PM Modi thinks that his relations with Gautam Adani can make India Congress-free, but when England was not able to make India Congress-free, how will PM Modi do this?"

I had detailed discussions, probably the most detailed discussion that any politician outside Ladakh has had with the people of Ladakh. They categorically told me that the Chinese have taken Indian land. They categorically told me that the PM is lying about the fact that the Chinese have not taken Indian land. Every single person in Ladakh knows that the people of India and the people of Ladakh have been betrayed by the Govt of India. There is clearly an accommodation that has happened between the Govt and the Chinese. There is clearly a change on the borders. Our shepherds themselves told us that they are not being allowed into the areas where they were allowed...It is extremely shameful what has happened in Ladakh."

CPI leader Sitaram Yechury, while addressing a joint press briefing, said, "It is very clear that the Modi government and the BJP are rattled by the coming together of all secular parties," adding, “This alliance has expanded as two more parties have joined and we think more will join. We have worked out the understanding on the basis on which seat sharing will be done at the state level."
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while addressing a joint press briefing, said, “This stage (INDIA alliance) represents 60 percent of India's population. If all parties come together then it is impossible for BJP to win. The task is to come together in the most efficient way possible," adding, “There are differences but they are being minimised and ironed out."
“Two important decisions were made in the session. First, a coordination committee will be constituted, and second, a seat-sharing formula will be discussed soon and a resolution will be brought on this," Gandhi said.
AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, while addressing a joint press briefing, said, “This INDIA alliance is not just an alliance of 28 parties, this is an alliance of 140 crore people of the country. The people of the country are gathering in large numbers to build the India of 21st century."
He added, “Today, India's youth do not have jobs. The government is working for 'one person' and is drowned in corruption. There will be powerful forces that will try to create fissures in INDIA alliance as this alliance will be the reason behind the decline of Modi government. There's no tussle between anyone in the alliance."
JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar, while addressing a joint press briefing, said, “All the parties (of INDIA alliance) are working together. Those in Centre will be defeated," adding, “Elections (Lok Sabha) can be held before time. So, we all have to remain vigilant."
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, while addressing a joint press briefing said, “The country suffered because we were not united. We had always said 'Bhajpa Hatao Desh Bachao', which is now turning out to be true."
Adding more, he said, “Minorities are not safe in this country (under BJP rule). Poverty, and unemployment are rising in the country."
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Congress pressident Mallikarjun Kharge said, “We all aim to fight against unemployment, inflation."
Mallikarjun Kharge said every party in the INDIA bloc has only one aim – how to fight unemployment and rising fuel, and LPG prices. He said, “All parties conducted this meeting well. A structure was formed for the alliance during talks at my residence earlier, in the Patna meeting an agenda was set and now in Mumbai, everyone has kept their views before each other. Everyone has one aim - how to fight unemployment and rising fuel prices and LPG cylinder costs? They (BJP) first increased the prices and reduced the price marginally...I can say that Modi ji will never work for the poor. Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi showed a report on how Adani's income has increased."
Addressing a press conference, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray says, “Today, INDIA parties passed three resolutions. One, we the INDIA parties hereby resolve to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections together as far as possible. Seat-sharing arrangements in different states will be initiated immediately and concluded at the earliest in a collaborative spirit of give and take. Second, we the INDIA parties hereby resolve to organise public rallies at the earliest in different parts of the country on issues of public concern and importance."
“Third, we the INDIA parties hereby resolve to coordinate our respective communications and media strategies and campaigns on the theme of 'Judega Bharat, Jeetega India' in different languages," he said.
The INDIA alliance on Friday announced a coordination committee consisting of 13 members, India Today report. The formation of the coordination committee was one of the top agendas of the meeting.
During the Opposition alliance meeting on Friday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the countdown for the exit of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)-ruled “autocratic" government has begun. Kharge shared a photograph of the ‘united’ leaders of the Opposition and captioned it- ‘Judega Bharat, Jeetega INDIA’ (India will unite; INDIA will win).
“We are united for a progressive, welfare-oriented, inclusive India. No matter how many diversions and distractions, the ruling regime throws at the people, the citizens of India shall not be betrayed anymore," Kharge said.
“140 crore Indians have decided to usher change," he said.
Addressing the opposition meeting in Mumbai, Congress President Malliakrjun Kharge launched a frontal attack on the government saying INDIA bloc partners should be prepared for vendetta politics as there will be more "misuse" of agencies against them.
He said the strength of the opposition alliance is making Narendra Modi's government "nervous".
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri took a jibe at INDIA alliance meeting calling it a ‘musical chair’ game. Puri told media, "I wish them the best of luck...The musical chair happening there...on one day Mamata ji becomes the contender, and on the other day Nitish ji becomes the contender...".
Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra assembly Vijay Wadettiwar on Friday stated that the unveiling of the logo of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) won’t happen during the ongoing meeting of the grouping.
He said the unveiling of the logo of the INDIA bloc will be postponed. The discussion will be about setting up various coordination committees.
The unexpected entry of Kapil Sibal during the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc's two-day meeting has sparked a row among Congress leaders.
Congress general secretary KC Venugopal also complained about Sibal's sudden visit to former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who is also a part of the INDIA meet.
However, Rahul Gandhi said he had no objection to anyone whatsoever.
Last year in May Sibal made public his decision to quit the Congress while filing a nomination for the coming Rajya Sabha elections as an independent candidate, supported by the Samajwadi Party (SP).

As many as 63 representatives from 28 Opposition parties have gathered together at Mumbai's Grand Hyaat Hotel to take important decisions regarding their INDIA alliance to defeat the BJP govt in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
As per the INDIA bloc meeting's agendas, the Opposition Alliance is likely to unveil a logo for the bloc.
The meeting will also discuss the alliance strategies for the Lok Sabha election and the seat sharing in the states. A new slogan of the INDIA alliance is also likely to be launched.
