Ajit Pawar breaks silence on appointment of Supriya Sule, Praful Patel as NCP presidents: ‘Happy’

PremiumSenior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar has finally broken his silence on the appointments of Supriya Sule and Praful Patel as the party working president as the reports emerged that the Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly was upset over the fresh reshuffle within the party ranks. Speaking with the reporters, Ajit Pawar said that he was “happy" with the appointments of Supriya Sule and Praful Patel.
“I am happy with their appointment," said Ajit Pawar, putting all the rumours to rest.
Earlier in the day when the announcement was made by Sharad Pawar, there were rumours that Ajit Pawar, who holds chief ministerial ambitions, was not happy with it. Soon after, Ajit Pawar left the party office without any interaction with the press.
However, Ajit Pawar has made a public statement saying he is “happy" with the decision. In fact, as Sharad Pawar said Ajit Pawar was one of the decision-makers leading to the appointments of Praful Patel and Supriya Patel.
Sharad Pawar was also asked why his nephew Ajit Pawar was not given any new responsibility in the NCP reshuffle. He said Ajit Pawar already has responsibilities as the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly.
When the decision was being announced, Ajit Pawar was observed on stage, fidgeting with a bottle before proceeding to applaud.
But he later took to Twitter to congratulate the two – Supriya Sule and Praful Patel – and said, “Under the leadership and guidance of respected Sharad Chandra Pawar Saheb, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which is making its debut in the silver jubilee year with the idea of 'Maharashtra in the heart... eyes in front of the nation...' will make a valuable contribution to the development of the country and the state. It is believed that every worker and office bearer of the NCP will work towards this goal. Congratulations again to the newly elected officials!"
