Kejriwal meets Naidu in Amaravati, another opposition rally in plans

In an another move by the opposition to consolidate itself against the Bharatiya Janata Party, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal reportedly met his Andhra Pradesh counterpart and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu late on Monday evening. Senior TDP leaders said that Naidu and Kejriwal met around 8 pm at Amaravati to discuss and plan another opposition rally in the coming days.

“The meeting was held to basically carry forward the anti-BJP opposition rally conducted in Kolkata by West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, which was also attended by Chandrababu Naidu," said a senior TDP leader who did not want to be quoted. The TDP functionary stated that Naidu has been asked to conduct a similar rally like the one Banerjee held earlier this month.

The Trinamul Congress leader sat on a protest against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre, after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Kolkata police had a showdown in connection with the Saradha scam. The unprecedented development was sparked by the CBI's attempt to question Kolkata Police chief Rajeev Kumar in connection with the scam.

“We are not sure of what exactly the programme will be, but even New Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia is also here, so there is something definitely on the cards. There were talks earlier about an opposition rally in Amaravati. So we have to wait and watch," added the TDP functionary.

Earlier on 11 February, Naidu also conducted a one-day protest in the national capital against PM Modi, demanding special category status for AP
