NEW DELHI : Meenakshi Lekhi, a BJP member of Parliament, has filed a contempt petition against Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi after judgment was pronounced by the Supreme court in the Rafale case on Wednesday.

"The Supreme Court has made it clear that Chowkidarji has committed theft, the court has talked about justice," Gandhi said while filing his nomination papers in Amethi on 10 April.

In a press conference held at the BJP headquarters, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharam had said the Congress leader was misquoting the Supreme Court and this was contempt of court.
