NEW DELHI :
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to launch a nationwide outreach programme in September on the recent decision of the Centre to abrogate Article 370 and Article 35A.
The awareness programme will also be carried out in the newly formed Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, including Srinagar, Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Sopore, Anantnag, and Ladakh, said BJP members.
These programmes would also be carried out in Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand where assembly elections will be held later this year.
Senior leaders of the party have identified 35 cities, mainly state capitals, where public meetings and awareness programmes will be held from 1 September and 370 smaller cities, where Union ministers, chief ministers of different states, deputy chief ministers, and senior leaders of the party would hold awareness programmes.
This is the first time that the BJP leadership is holding outreach programmes to reach out to people on the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
“We have to take the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the people through this outreach programme," Union minister for petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan said on Monday.
“The outreach programme will focus on informing the people about the importance of the decision. The dream of ‘one nation, one Constitution’ has been fulfilled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," said Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union minister for Jal Shakti.
The people of the country should understand the importance of the decision because three generations of people have waited for the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 A, Shekhawat said.
“The outreach programme will inform people about the decision and we will also talk about the responsibility of people of other states towards the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Shekhawat said.
