Delhi police has arrested former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Councillor Tahir Hussain. The suspended AAP councillor was absconding in a murder case during the Delhi riots, has been booked in attempt to murder case during the violence.

Tahir Hussain was charged after the body of Ankit Sharma was recovered last week from a drain in northeast Delhi's Jaffrabad. The police said he was absconding since his name cropped up in the case. Ankit Sharma's father, Ravinder Sharma, who also works with the Intelligence Bureau, had accused Tahir Hussain of the murder.

Delhi's ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had then suspended him for his alleged involvement in the violence which has left at least 42 people dead and around 200 injured.

According to News agency reports, a highly placed police source said on Wednesday that the new case has been lodged in the Khazuri Khas police station. The complainant, who received a bullet injury during the Delhi violence, has said in the FIR that Hussain was among the rioters who opened fire at him.
