India meet LIVE: Floor leaders of the Opposition bloc — ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA)’ — will meet at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in Delhi today (5 September). As per the media reports, the leaders will chalk out strategies for the upcoming elections in five states as well as the Lok Sabha elections next year. Last week, the leaders of the opposition block concluded their third meeting in Maharashtra and adopted resolutions to collectively contest the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, the leaders are yet to announce the seat-sharing arrangements. The first meeting of the joint opposition was held in Patna on June 23 and the second meeting was held in Bengaluru on July 17-18.

Commenting on meeting with Kharge, Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain said, "Our discussion revolved around the 5-day special Session - what should be our issues, what should be the issues of the people and what are the issues that the country is facing today. We have shortlisted all these issues. Floor leaders of INDIA parties will have a meeting at the residence of Mallikarjun Kharge. All of these issues will be kept before him after the same is finalised there we will raise those issues at the 5-day session."
Congress president Kharge drops old faces, adds fresh ones in Central Election Committee
Ahead of key assembly elections slated this year, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge has constituted a 16-member Central Election Committee.
The development comes ahead of key Assembly elections in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
The committee includes Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Ambika Soni, Adhir Rajan Chowdhary, Salman Khurshid, Madhusudan Mistry, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, TS Singh Deo, KJ George, Pritam Singh, Mohammad Jawed, Amee Yajnik, PL Punia, Omkar Markam, KC Venugopal.
Among the new faces, new questions have been set up from each state, former Uttarakhand Congress chief Pritam Singh, from West Bengal Adhir Rajan Chowdhary, Bihar MP Mohammed Jawed and Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat Amee Yajnik, besides former MP from Uttar Pradesh PL Punia and General Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Congress, Former Member of Rajya Sabha Madhusudan Mistry, and Lok Sabha MP from Telangana Uttam Kumar Reddy have also been included as members of the all-important panel.
'Consider Women's Reservation Bill as a top priority,' Telangana leader tells INDIA bloc
Telangana's Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC Kavitha has requested INDIA bloc leaders, such as Mallikarjun Kharge and Nitish Kumar to consider the Women's Reservation Bill as a top priority. She said, "The issue of women's representation in the Parliament is of utmost importance, and with folded hands I request all the political parties to take up this issue and rise above the political partisanship. This current govt does not have a comfortable majority in Rajya Sabha, but the Women's Reservation Bill has already passed in Rajya Sabha. So they just have to put it in the Lok Sabha and give the Women's Reservation Bill".
