NEW DELHI : Several companies, including construction giant Larsen and Toubro (L&T), have approached the Shree Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, senior leaders of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have said.

The trust will meet later this week to discuss construction of Ram temple.

"A proposal has been sent and meetings have taken place between the construction committee of the trust and L&T. A decision will be taken only during the meeting of trust members in Ayodhya. Several companies have come forward to help, a decision will be taken during the meeting of the Trust later this week," said Vinod Bansal, spokesperson of VHP.

In a unanimous verdict by a five-judge Constitution bench, the Supreme Court on 9 November settled the 70-year-old Ayodhya dispute by allowing construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site and sanctioned five acres for the construction of a mosque in the temple town.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, formed by the Union government following a Supreme Court order, held its first meeting in Delhi on 19 February to appoint its members. The trust will hold its next meeting in Ayodhya in the coming days although a final decision on the date has not been made.

"The final decision on construction of Ram Temple will made in the meeting of the Trust members," Bansal said.
