PM Narendra Modi on Wednesday lashed out at the Congress and blamed the grand old party for creating a north-south divide in India during his speech in the Upper House of Parliament.
"Mallikarjun Kharge ji spoke in Rajya Sabha for a long time and I was thinking about how he got the chance to speak for a long time and then I realised that two special commanders were not there so he took advantage of it and I think that Kharge ji must have heard that song 'Aisa mauka phir kaha milega," said PM Modi replying to Motion of Thanks on President's address in Rajya Sabha.

Continuing his attack on the grand old party, PM Modi said that policy paralysis became an identity of the UPA government and accused the Gandhi family of continuing with the ‘slave mentality’.
‘If Congress was not influenced by the British, why was there a lal-batti culture for VVIPS? Congress ceased large chunks of the country's land to the enemy but is now giving sermons to us on internal security," he said.
Recalling former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru's stance on the reservation of SC, ST, and OBC, PM Modi on Wednesday said Pandit Nehru wrote a letter to the chief ministers and expressed his opposition to reservation of any kind.
"I dislike any kind of reservation, more particularly in services. I am strongly against anything which leads to inefficiency and second-rate standards..," PM Modi quoted Jawaharlal Nehru in his speech in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Taking a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "They have made a start-up for their 'Yuvraj'. But he is a non-starter, he neither lifts nor launches.”
Remembering BR Ambedkar, PM Modi said that he got the Bharat Ratna award only after the BJP came into power at the Centre.
“The Congress which never gave complete reservation to OBCs, never gave reservation to the poor of the general category, which did not consider Baba Saheb worthy of Bharat Ratna, kept giving Bharat Ratna only to its family. They are now preaching and teaching us the lesson of social justice. Those who have no guarantee as a leader are raising questions about Modi's guarantee,” said PM Modi on Wednesday.
Mentioning the situation of Jammu and Kashmir after Article 370, PM Modi said that SCs, STs, and OBCs, were able to get their rights in J&K after the removal of A-370.
Accusing the Congress of strangling democracy, PM Modi said, “The Congress that, in its greed for power, openly strangled democracy, the Congress that dissolved democratically elected governments overnight, the Congress that jailed the Constitutional decorum, the Congress that tried to lock up newspapers - that Congress has now acquired the habit to create narratives of breaking the country.”
Striking at the Congress for spreading misinformation against the BJP government related to the mismanagement of PSUs, PM Modi claimed that it was under the UPA government's tenure when BSNL, MTNL, Air India and HAL suffered the most. Mentioning the spectacular performance of the Life Insurance Corporation in the stock market, PM Modi said, “Opposition spread rumours about LIC, but today its shares are trading at record high price.”
