Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, are holding a roadshow there on Saturday. He offered prayer at the temple. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present.
PM Modi reached Varanasi around 7 pm on Saturday. BJP workers and locals lined up on the roads outside the airport from where PM Modi began a 28-km long roadshow, during which he also stopped at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to offer prayers.
"PM Modi is also scheduled to visit Atulanand School located in Gilat Bazaar and Kabir Chaura, among other places on the route of the roadshow," BJP regional chief Dilip Patel said.
His visit to Varanasi came ahead of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The Prime Minister is all set to contest the 2024 polls from Varanasi for the third time.
PM Modi has been representing the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency since 2014. He will be contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections from Varanasi for the third time.
The Prime Minister secured major victories during the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections from the seat and even surpassed the victory margins of his predecessor and BJP stalwart Murali Manohar Joshi.
PM Modi had won Varanasi seat in 2014 elections with 56.37 percent of the total EVM Postal votes polled, as per the Elections Commission data. In 2019 general poll, he won by a margin of 45.2 percent.
Patel said the prime minister will make a night halt at the BLW Guest House here. On the second day of his visit on Sunday, he will leave for Azamgarh from Bareka helipad at around 10 am.
PM Modi will participate in a public programme around noon on March 10, where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over ₹42,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh.
Around 2:15 PM, the Prime Minister will reach Varanasi and will disburse the first installment under Mahatari Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh via video conferencing.
