The government on Thursday included defence minister Rajnath Singh in four more cabinet panels that have been reconstituted in the second term of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
Singh was included only in two of the ministerial panels that were announced earlier in the day-- the one on economic affairs and the one on security. With the latest revision in the panels, he will also sit on the panels on parliamentary affairs, political affairs, investment and growth and jobs and skill development.
A politician for about five decades, the former BJP president now represents the Lucknow constituency. He was the home minister in the previous NDA government led by Narendra Modi. Singh had also served as Uttar Pradesh chief minister between 2000 and 2002. Singh headed the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs in the last government.
