Siddaramaiah loses his cool

A video of the incident went viral and prompted widespread criticism of the former chief minister

BENGALURU: On a day when his loyalists faced disciplinary action, Siddaramaiah, the face of the Congress in Karnataka, received flak when he lost his cool with a woman who questioned him at a public event in Mysuru.

The woman, Jamalar, a former local body office bearer of the Congress, was agitated that she was not informed of the visit beforehand. Siddaramaiah shouted back at her and tried to snatch the microphone from her. In the process, he also pulled off her head scarf. A video of the incident went viral and prompted widespread criticism of the former chief minister. BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa condemned Siddaramaiah. “Instead of addressing her grievance persuasively, Siddaramaiah displayed his anger by snatching the microphone from her and shouting at her," he said, as per PTI. In a series of tweets, Siddaramaiah said he had no mal-intent. “I know that woman for more than 15 years now and she is like my sister," he said.
