New Delhi: A special court on Tuesday extended till 15 October the judicial custody of Karnataka Congress leader D K Shivakumar, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Act. The Congress leader is currently lodged in Tihar.
Shivakumar on 26 September had moved the Delhi High Court for a bail, after the special court dismissed the Congress leader’s bail application. The special court had also remanded Shivakumar to judicial custody till 1 October. The high court will hear the matter on 14 October.
The Congress leader was arrested by the ED on 3 September after four days of interrogation in relation to the case.
Multiple agencies have been probing Shivakumar’s assets for almost two years now.
In August 2017, the income tax (I-T) department raided several premises owned by the Congress leader, his family, and associates and claimed to have unearthed crores of rupees in unaccounted for income.
