New Delhi: MDMK chief Vaiko on Wednesday filed a habeas corpus petition in the Supreme Court urging the court to allow former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah to attend a conference in Chennai on 15 September.
The Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) leader, in his 12-page petition, submitted that he has been unable to contact Abdullah, who had been invited for an event in Chennai on 15 September.
Vaiko submitted that Abdullah had agreed to attend the conference in Chennai on the occasion of the birth anniversary of C. N. Annadurai, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, but he was under house arrest in Kashmir and could not be contacted.
The case is likely to be mentioned on Thursday in Supreme Court for early listing.
